Thursday, June 12, 2025 | Matthew 5:20-26

Jesus said to his disciples:"I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses thatof the scribes and Pharisees,you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven."You have heard that it was said to your ancestors,You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brotherwill be liable to judgment,and whoever says to his brother,Raqa, will be answerable to the Sanhedrin,and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to fiery Gehenna.Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar,and there recall that your brotherhas anything against you,leave your gift there at the altar,go first and be reconciled with your brother,and then come and offer your gift.Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him.Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge,and the judge will hand you over to the guard,and you will be thrown into prison.Amen, I say to you,you will not be released until you have paid the last penny."

Wednesday, June 11, 2025 | Matthew 5:17-19

Jesus said to his disciples:“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letterwill pass from the law,until all things have taken place.Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandmentsand teaches others to do sowill be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.But whoever obeys and teaches these commandmentswill be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

Tuesday, June 10, 2025 | Matthew 5:13-16

Jesus said to his disciples:"You are the salt of the earth.But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?It is no longer good for anythingbut to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.You are the light of the world.A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;it is set on a lampstand,where it gives light to all in the house.Just so, your light must shine before others,that they may see your good deedsand glorify your heavenly Father."

Monday, June 9, 2025 | John 19:25-34

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother            and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,            and Mary of Magdala.When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved,            he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.”Then he said to the disciple,            “Behold, your mother.”And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.After this, aware that everything was now finished,            in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled,            Jesus said, “I thirst.”There was a vessel filled with common wine.So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop            and put it up to his mouth.When Jesus had taken the wine, he said,            “It is finished.”And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.Now since it was preparation day,            in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath,            for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one,            the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken            and they be taken down.So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first            and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus.But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead,            they did not break his legs,            but one soldier thrust his lance into his side,            and immediately Blood and water flowed out.

Sunday, June 8, 2025 | John 20:19-23

On the evening of that first day of the week,when the doors were locked, where the disciples were,for fear of the Jews,Jesus came and stood in their midstand said to them, “Peace be with you.”When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,“Receive the Holy Spirit.Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,and whose sins you retain are retained.”

Saturday, June 7, 2025 | John 21:20-25

Peter turned and saw the disciple following whom Jesus loved,the one who had also reclined upon his chest during the supperand had said, "Master, who is the one who will betray you?"When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about him?"Jesus said to him, "What if I want him to remain until I come?What concern is it of yours?  You follow me."So the word spread among the brothers that that disciple would not die.But Jesus had not told him that he would not die,just "What if I want him to remain until I come?What concern is it of yours?"It is this disciple who testifies to these thingsand has written them, and we know that his testimony is true.There are also many other things that Jesus did,but if these were to be described individually,I do not think the whole world would contain the booksthat would be written.

Friday, June 6, 2025 | John 21:15-19

After Jesus had revealed himself to his disciples and eaten breakfast with them, he said to Simon Peter,“Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”He then said to Simon Peter a second time,“Simon, son of John, do you love me?”Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”He said to him the third time,“Simon, son of John, do you love me?”Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time,“Do you love me?” and he said to him,“Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger,you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands,and someone else will dress youand lead you where you do not want to go.”He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God.And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”

Thursday, June 5, 2025 | John 17:20-26

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying:"I pray not only for these,but also for those who will believe in me through their word,so that they may all be one,as you, Father, are in me and I in you,that they also may be in us,that the world may believe that you sent me.And I have given them the glory you gave me,so that they may be one, as we are one,I in them and you in me,that they may be brought to perfection as one,that the world may know that you sent me,and that you loved them even as you loved me.Father, they are your gift to me.I wish that where I am they also may be with me,that they may see my glory that you gave me,because you loved me before the foundation of the world.Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,but I know you, and they know that you sent me.I made known to them your name and I will make it known,that the love with which you loved memay be in them and I in them."

Wednesday, June 4, 2025 | John 17:11b-19

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed, saying:“Holy Father, keep them in your namethat you have given me,so that they may be one just as we are one.When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me,and I guarded them, and none of them was lostexcept the son of destruction,in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled.But now I am coming to you.I speak this in the worldso that they may share my joy completely.I gave them your word, and the world hated them,because they do not belong to the worldany more than I belong to the world.I do not ask that you take them out of the worldbut that you keep them from the Evil One.They do not belong to the worldany more than I belong to the world.Consecrate them in the truth.Your word is truth.As you sent me into the world,so I sent them into the world.And I consecrate myself for them,so that they also may be consecrated in truth.”

Tuesday, June 3, 2025 | John 17:1-11a

Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said,“Father, the hour has come.Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you,just as you gave him authority over all people,so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him.Now this is eternal life,that they should know you, the only true God,and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.I glorified you on earthby accomplishing the work that you gave me to do.Now glorify me, Father, with you,with the glory that I had with you before the world began.“I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world.They belonged to you, and you gave them to me,and they have kept your word.Now they know that everything you gave me is from you,because the words you gave to me I have given to them,and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you,and they have believed that you sent me.I pray for them.I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me,because they are yours, and everything of mine is yoursand everything of yours is mine,and I have been glorified in them.And now I will no longer be in the world,but they are in the world, while I am coming to you.”
